This competency area includes an understanding of the concepts of metric collection, dashboards, alerts, integrations, APM, anomaly detection, log management, distributed tracing, data exploration, permissions and access control, and CI/CD.

Key Competencies:

1. Metric Collection - Understanding how to collect and send metrics to Datadog. This can involve various agents, integrations, and custom metric submissions.
2. Dashboards - Ability to create and customize dashboards to visualize the metrics and data relevant to the systems and applications. Knowledge of building widgets, arranging them on dashboards, and setting up monitoring views.
3. Alerts - Ability to set up alerts to proactively monitor your infrastructure. Define thresholds and notification channels to be alerted when metrics cross specific values.
4. Integrations - Learn how to configure the integrations to gather data from different sources, such as cloud platforms, databases, and more.
5. APM (Application Performance Monitoring) - Knowledge of setting up APM for the application. This includes setting up traces, profiling, and tracking requests.
6. Anomaly Detection - Understanding how to configure anomaly detection and use it effectively.
7. Log Management - Ability to set up log pipelines, define parsing rules, and use logs for debugging and troubleshooting.
8. Distributed Tracing - Understanding how to set up and use distributed tracing for applications with multiple services.
9. Data Exploration - Knowledge of Datadog tools to gain insights into the system, including metric analysis and log exploration.
10. Permissions and Access Control - Understand how to set up user roles, permissions, and access control to ensure data security and privacy.
11. Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) - Integrate Datadog into your CI/CD pipelines to ensure that applications are monitored from the development stage.
